Starting at the Acropolis Hill you will have the pleasure of visiting and learning about the many wonders of the Athenian Golden Age. As you pass by the Propylaea you will begin to feel a sense of awe and respect for the work of the ancient Hellenes which will only increase as we continue on our way to visit the Erectheion (statues of the Caryatids who were maidens dedicated to the goddess Athena and the god Poseidon), the Temple of Athena Nike and of course the Parthenon from where you will have an unparalleled view of the Odeon of Herodes Atticus, the Theater of Dionysus and the Areopagus (Mars Hill).
From there as we make our way to the ancient Panathenaic Stadium where the first modern day Olympics were held in 1896 you will also be afforded a view of Hadrian’s Arch and the Temple of Olympian Zeus. As we drive down the famous Herod Atticus avenue we will also be able to see the world famous Evzones (Presidential Guard) guarding the Presidential Palace. Time permitting we will also be able to see the National Library, the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier, the House of Parliament and Constitution Square.
A few miles from the center of Athens lies a seaside idyll of wonderful beaches and local charm known as the Athenian Riviera. Beginning with the suburb of Paleo Faliro and ending on the Cape of Sounion the coastal road will provide beautiful views of the Saronic Gulf that must be seen. Along the road to the temple of Poseidon in Cape Sounion we will drive through the unofficial seaside capital of the Athenian Riviera, Glyfada, a cosmopolitan town famed for its shopping, food and entertainment.
It will be hard for you to decide what is more splendid, the view from the Parthenon or the view from the temple of Poseidon. On a clear day you can see seven islands!
